INSPIRING LEADERSHIP
We’re so proud and excited to celebrate Crystal Long, GECU’s President and CEO, as she receives the UTEP Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest recognition bestowed upon alumni of the University.
Every year, the University of Texas at El Paso and the UTEP Alumni Association honor a group of exceptional graduates whose determination and drive to succeed propelled them to the pinnacle of success in their professions. Their achievements stand out as monuments to dedication, integrity and hard work as they give back to their communities and alma maters, and serve as an inspiration for future generations.
UTEP’s President, Diana Natalicio said to El Paso Herald Post, “These highly successful individuals embody our Miner spirit and serve as examples to our students of what can be accomplished through an excellent education, high aspirations and the drive and perseverance to achieve them.”
CRYSTAL LONG — UTEP’S DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
Crystal Long has stated she’s both humbled and honored to be recognized as a distinguished alumna, a recognition she feels should be shared with her family, friends, colleagues and community members, who all have been part of her journey.
Crystal Long began her career at GECU as an entry-level file clerk. She later started her pursuit of higher education to advance her career while maintaining a full-time job and raising a family. All the hard work paid off when she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Phoenix. But that didn’t stop her desire to keep learning and growing professionally. Crystal kept moving up the ranks at GECU, from teller to supervisor to manager and then vice-president. Crystal became a proud Miner when she joined UTEP’s Executive MBA Program.
Congratulations, Crystal, on this well-deserved honor!
“It’s an amazing achievement! I mean, it’s the highest recognition UTEP alumni can receive but at the same time, I wasn’t surprised. She’s an amazing woman, an amazing leader and an amazing CEO. She’s a trailblazer herself. She deserves this award and many others.”
