LOWER DYER COMMUNITY CENTER HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
The GECU Foundation* provided Thanksgiving dinners and toys for the Christmas season to local El Pasoans at the Lower Dyer Community Center — a space where members of the community can gather for group activities, a monthly food pantry, ESL classes, after-school tutoring, free tax preparation, free financial education presentations and more. Community members in a neighborhood in the Northeast area of El Paso greatly benefit from donations during the holiday season.
Thanks to your support, the holiday fundraiser was a success! We raised more than $7,900 and provided Thanksgiving meals to 221 families and toys to 350 children. We are so proud of the tremendous response that we received from the community and are grateful for your generous donations. You all really came together to put our people helping people philosophy in action.
Extra safety precautions were implemented for the drive-thru Thanksgiving and Christmas events for the health and safety of everyone.

The GECU Foundation is focused on philanthropy, which helps to improve the well-being of those around us by preventing and solving social problems. Philanthropy is not the same as charity. Charity focuses on eliminating the suffering caused by social problems, while philanthropy focuses on eliminating social problems.
