PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

GECU was founded on the idea of people helping people and we’re still guided by this philosophy today. Your credit union has been hard at work contributing to the relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.  When we heard our fellow Texans were in need, we immediately initiated the following measures:

1. Wire transfer fees have been waived for transfers to people affected by Hurricane Harvey.

2. GECU Community Development sent a team of volunteers to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger where they loaded trucks carrying food to Houston and prepared for refugees who will be arriving here in El Paso. In addition, Financial Coaches from GECU Community Development are providing financial counseling to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

3. Our over 800 employees donated money to relief efforts in a Jeans Day donation drive.

We’ll continue to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey both in the affected areas and as refugees arrive in the El Paso area. Stay tuned to TalkBox to find out more about GECU’s relief efforts and ways that you can help.  Together, we’re making a big difference in our community, and in our neighbors’ communities.
