Every year, GECU employees come together to support education by donating to the GECU Foundation’s back-to-school fundraiser! We continue to be passionate about helping our community and we want to keep helping even more students — but we’re going to need your help to do it.
For the 2021 school year, the GECU Foundation raised funds to provide students from six schools in our community and one community center with the essential supplies that they need for the school year. We welcomed the community to help us reach our goal and it was a monumental success! With the help of GECU employees & members, Texas State Senator César Blanco, and the entire community, we raised $25,000 and provided 2,148 students with everything from backpacks and composition books to crayons and pencils!
We were able to expand our reach into new districts and help students at:
- Lorenzo G. Alarcon Elementary School — San Elizario ISD
- Aoy Elementary School — El Paso ISD
- Deanna Davenport Elementary School — Canutillo ISD
- Hueco Elementary School — Socorro ISD
- Montana Vista Elementary School — Clint ISD
- Benito Martinez Elementary School — Fort Hancock ISD
- Lower Dyer Community Center
