GECU is proud to have been recognized at a local, regional and national level with a total of 25 awards from the Cornerstone League, the Telly Awards, the CUNA Diamond Awards, the CUNA national awards program and El Paso Inc.
The CUNA Diamond Awards are amongst the credit union industry’s most prestigious awards, recognizing creative excellence and outstanding results for credit union outreach, marketing and campaigns. GECU received seven Diamond Awards, including two Category’s Best awards. The Telly Awards recognize and honor the best in video and television across all screens. GECU received eight silver and two bronze Telly Awards for several advertising campaigns. El Paso Inc. magazine’s Best of El Paso competition invites the community to vote and recognizes the city’s best of the best, where GECU was named Best Financial Institution and Best Lender in El Paso.
The Cornerstone League Community Service Awards regionally recognize credit unions who demonstrate support through any kind of activity that helps other people or strengthens the structure of a community; through the personal finance education of members and nonmembers; and through commitment to the practical application of the people helping people philosophy. GECU was awarded with two first place awards and two second place awards at the regional level for our 2019 VITA program, El Paso Strong community outreach campaign, and youth and adult financial education efforts.
The Credit Union National Association national awards recognize model credit union efforts to strengthen the community through different types of outreach programs for members and nonmembers. GECU won second place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award for our El Paso Strong efforts and an honorable mention for the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award for our 2019 VITA program efforts.
