National Credit Union Youth Month
National Credit Union Youth Month is a great time to empower the kids in your life to focus on their futures through saving. It’s as easy as getting them in the habit of saving a little and watching it grow with a GECU Youth Account. Here are a few tips to get them to start thinking about saving!
A Dollar a Week
Encouraging children to put aside a little at a time is a great way to get them in the habit of saving. Start with a small amount and commit to regular deposits into their GECU Youth Account each week. Explain to them that their money will earn interest and grow while it’s in their account and if they keep up the routine, their savings will grow quicker.
Visualize the Goal
It’s much easier to accomplish a goal when we have our eyes on the prize! Have the kids cut out pictures of something they’d like to save for and post it where they will see it often? Encourage them to put money aside and help them check their account regularly either online or at any GECU location so they can start learning how to handle banking operations and they can watch the balance rise thanks to their hard work.
You can help a child in your life by setting up automatic transfers to their GECU Youth Account! Just select the date and amount you want to deposit each month and sit back as their money grows! You can change the amount, date and frequency whenever you want, so it’s a comfortable deposit for your life.
