The largest, free public-arts festival in the region returns this October during its 11th year of art, music and fun. Chalk the Block is one of El Paso’s premier events, drawing a crowd of around 40,000 people annually. Chalk the Block 2018 will have you enjoying all the sights and sounds of our colorful Downtown El Paso! It’s an event you don’t want to miss!

Chalk the Block is a free, three-day public-arts festival held in the El Paso Downtown Arts District. The streets turn into canvasses where artists display their chalk masterpieces. The event is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy art, with live painting, performances, music and much more.

Each year, about 200 local, national and international artists from all disciplines participate at Chalk the Block — creating a fun, quirky and diverse environment for people of all ages to enjoy.

The event features interactive art installations, live dance and theatrical performances, sidewalk chalk-art competitions, live music, art and food vendors, access to various activities and exhibits at both the El Paso Museum of Art and Museum of History, and more!

Downtown El Paso is the place to be during Chalk the Block! Experience the excitement of Chalk the Block in living color!

JOIN GECU AT CHALK THE BLOCK 2018

The GECU Kids’ Zone is back this year with an entire area just for kids. We’ll be promoting financial literacy with interactive activities like Dru Blue’s activity book. Participation in these activities gets each child a free ride voucher on a designated ride in the GECU Kids’ Zone. Rides include jumping castles, the big slide, a mechanical bull and more!

This year, we’ll also have a “Pledge to Save” wall where kids and parents can take the pledge to save money by placing their handprint on the wall.

Stop by the GECU canopy for free chalk and the GECU Kids’ Zone chalk wall.

Join us Friday, Oct. 12, to Sunday, Oct. 14, for a weekend of art, live music and fun for the whole family!
